The Inflation Reduction Act

Through the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, you can lower energy costs by upgrading your existing home appliances. The Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate (HEAR) provides eligible consumers a rebate to save money on purchasing new electric appliances. This includes the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebate, savings for an Energy Star-certified electric heat pump clothes dryer and stove, cooktop, range or oven.

What is the Inflation Reduction Act?

The Inflation Reduction Act is a law signed on August 16, 2022, aimed at supporting clean energy, addressing climate change and reducing home improvement costs to households.

Who qualifies for a rebate?

You may be eligible for an instant home appliance rebate if you:

  • Upgrade your home appliances.
  • Own a single- or multi-family home, rental properties or new construction.
  • Are low- or medium-income.
  • Participate in an eligible federal program.
How does the rebate process work?

To secure a home appliance rebate, follow these steps:

  1. Pre-qualify via your state’s energy office.
  2. Identify an electric appliance online or in-store.
  3. Verify your rebate eligibility for the selected appliance online or in-store.
  4. Complete checkout by finalizing the remaining payment (if applicable), shipping and delivery logistics.
What electric appliances are eligible for a rebate?

The following products are rebate-eligible: An ENERGY STAR-Certified electric heat pump clothes dryer, and stove, cooktop, range and/or oven.

How much can I receive if I live in a low-income household?

Low-income households* are eligible to receive an immediate rebate up to $1,680 toward their purchase of an electric appliance, including an ENERGY STAR-Certified electric heat pump clothes dryer, and stove, cooktop, range and/or oven. Each qualifying household may receive up to $14,000 for home appliance rebates total.

*A low-income household is defined as a household that operates on an income lower than 80% of the average median household income in your area. Confirm your eligibility here.

How much can I receive if I live in a medium-income household?

Medium-income households* are eligible to receive an immediate rebate up to $840 toward their purchase of an electric appliance, including an ENERGY STAR-Certified electric heat pump clothes dryer, and stove, cooktop, range and/or oven. Each qualifying household may receive up to $14,000 for home appliance rebates total.

*A medium-income household is defined as a household that operates on an income between 80% to 150% of the average median household income in your area. Confirm your eligibility here.

How can I learn more about receiving a rebate?

Visit your state’s energy office to learn when HEAR will be available in your area and how to claim your rebate.

I already purchased my appliance – can I still receive a rebate?

If you purchased an energy-efficient appliance in your home after August 16, 2022, contact your state’s energy office to see if you meet the federal and state rules to qualify for a rebate.
